Sowing Seeds of Hope: Naz Bibi’s Journey from Devastation to Empowerment

In the heart of Village Faqeer Muhammad Panah Tunio, District Naseerabad, lives a woman whose resilience redefined hope for her entire community.

After the catastrophic floods of 2022, Naz Bibi a mother of five stood amid the wreckage of her family's livelihood. With little more than determination in her heart and support from TKF and Oxfam's Agri-Input Livelihood Project, she began to rebuild.

Naz Bibi received a modest grant of PKR 40,000, but she turned it into something extraordinary. She revived her agricultural activities by planting wheat and cultivating a quarter acre of land with okra, onions, tomatoes, and loonak (a spinach variety). The fresh vegetables nourished her family, and with the surplus, she reached out to neighbors and local markets spreading not just produce but hope.

Her efforts quickly bore fruit. Just recently, she sold 25 kg of okra for PKR 3,700, with more harvests and income on the horizon. This steady stream of earnings has transformed her family’s future, offering them security, dignity, and the promise of a better tomorrow.

"Before the floods, I had nothing left. Today, my children eat well, we share with others, and I have something to call my own again. TKF and Oxfam gave me more than money, they gave me a second chance," says Naz Bibi with a grateful smile.

Naz Bibi is no longer just a beneficiary, she’s a beacon of inspiration for other women in her village. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience, the value of timely support, and the life-changing impact of community-based livelihood initiatives.
